WELCOME!! We are glad that you have joined us this morning as we lift up our hearts and voices in response to God’s great gift of forgiveness and life in Christ Jesus. If you are a visitor, please sign our guest book and introduce yourself to Pastor Les Wolfgram.
AT SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY LUTHERAN CHURCH we celebrate the Lord’s Supper in the confidence that we receive, along with the bread and wine, our Savior’s true body and blood “through and in which we obtain the forgiveness of sins.” Besides individually receiving Christ’s free gift of forgiveness in this sacrament, all those who commune make a confession of the faith that we believe and teach in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. To commune at this altar is to accept the doctrinal position of this congregation. Because of that common confession, we invite those who are members at sister Missouri Synod Churches to join us at the Lord’s Table. If you would like more information on our understanding of the Lord’s Supper, please visit with Pastor Wolfgram.
TRAINING FOR greeters and ushers will take place on Thursday, January 9, 7:00 pm.
THE NEXT Shepherding our Strays workshop will take place on January 4th. Please prayerfully consider how you might assist and care for our straying and strayed members. If you are interested in serving in any way at Shepherd of the Valley, please go to http://tin.cc/SOTVservice and complete the online survey.
A SPECIAL voters meeting will take place on Sunday, January 12, during the education hour to consider a Divine Call to Justin Woodside as Shared Assisting Pastor. A joint meal and meeting will then take place on January 26 at Bethel Lutheran Church. The Pot Bless meal will begin at 12:15 with the joint voters meeting at 1:00 PM.
Jan 5: Rev. Rev. Bernie Seter, Zion English Grafton, ND, Trinity Lutheran Church, Drayton, ND, St. John Lutheran Church, Crystal, ND, presents the message: “Who is in Charge Here?” based on Ephesians 1:3-14. “This Is The Life” program is: “A Friend in Deed,” which explores the Christians duty to forgive those who have done us wrong.
THE ANNUAL Winter Men’s Retreat will take place at Shepherd’s Hill at the Crossroads on Friday, January 17, 6:00 through 1:00 pm Saturday, January 18. The featured speaker will be Rev. Jeff Hemmer, author of “Man Up.” Rev. Hemmer will address the “Quest For Masculinity”. Cost for the retreat is $80.00 and includes three meals, lodging, and speaker. Sign up in the narthex or visit with Pastor Wolfgram if you’d like to attend.
THANK YOU for your kind expressions of love through cards and gifts at Christmas. It continues to be my joy to serve as your pastor. I look forward to all that the Lord has in store for our congregation in the coming year.
THANK YOU TO the following people for sponsoring poinsettias to help beautify our church this Christmas season: Leona Mittag, Tom and Cathy Sitter in memory of Chuck Vukelich and Lauri Vukelich, and Ted Kuusisto in honor of his mother’s 86th birthday. Poinsettias may be picked up anytime after the Christmas service.
