WELCOME!! We are glad that you have joined us this morning as we lift up our hearts and voices in response to God’s great gift of forgiveness and life in Christ Jesus. If you are a visitor, please sign our guest book and introduce yourself to Pastor Les Wolfgram and Pastor Justin Woodside.
AT SHEPHERD OF THE VALLEY LUTHERAN CHURCH we celebrate the Lord’s Supper in the confidence that we receive, along with the bread and wine, our Savior’s true body and blood “through and in which we obtain the forgiveness of sins.” Besides individually receiving Christ’s free gift of forgiveness in this sacrament, all those who commune make a confession of the faith that we believe and teach in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. To commune at this altar is to accept the doctrinal position of this congregation. Because of that common confession, we invite those who are members at sister Missouri Synod Churches to join us at the Lord’s Table. If you would like more information on our understanding of the Lord’s Supper, please visit with Pastor Wolfgram.
MISSOURI VALLEY CHAMBER ORCHESTRA presents “Suite and Low” at Shepherd of the Valley on November 8 at 3:00 PM with Dr. Brian Lydeen and Dr. Jeremy Wohletz, bass clarinets, and Elizabeth Schoeder, soprano. Tickets available at the door.
IT BEGAN IN THE EARLY 16TH CENTURY when a troubled professor at Wittenberg University in Eisleben, German, was convinced by the words recorded in Romans that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ and not by human works. This changed not only his life, but also the lives of many who listened to his preaching, studied his teaching, and read his writings. Saved by faith in Jesus Christ! That truth lives on in our church’s preaching and teaching today. As this truth changed Luther’s life and the lives of many in his time, it continues to change lives in our time today.
MARTIN LUTHER SCHOOL FALL 2020 AUCTION Martin Luther School will be hosting an online auction/sale/fundraiser. It will open Friday, 10/30/20, at 12:01 AM and run through Sunday, 11/8/20, at 2:00 PM. You will have an opportunity to bid on donated crafts, artwork, toys, tools, sporting goods, gift cards, and more. There may even be a few PIES up for auction! You can also make direct donations. Finally, you will be able to purchase t-shirts with the new “Lion” logo. The shirts are great for MLS students, parents, grandparents, and all supporters. The auction can be previewed at: https://www.charityauctionstoday.com/auctions/Martin-Luther-School-Fall-2020-Auction-15301. That same link will work once the auction goes live. Thanks for your support!
THE FEAST OF ALL SAINTS will take place on November 1. In an effort to remember our loved ones who have died in the Lord, you may order and purchase a rose to celebrate their new and eternal life in Christ. The cost is $3.00 for each red long-stemmed rose that is purchased. During services on November 1, we will pause to remember and celebrate these loved ones with a parade of roses, honoring each person, one at a time. Please complete an order form and return it by October 25.
THE WOMEN’S CARE CENTER has specifically asked for gift cards for Walmart and Target to assist them with their incentive program where they offer free crib and other “Baby stuff” to moms who complete classes. They lack space to store these items so appreciate the ability to give gift cards to moms and dads who complete the program.
