WELCOME!! We are glad that you have joined us this morning as we lift up our hearts and voices in response to God’s great gift of forgiveness and life in Christ Jesus. If you are a visitor, please sign our guest book and introduce yourself to Pastor Les Wolfgram and Pastor Justin Woodside.

HIS YEAR’S LWML SUNDAY THEME IS “Kingdom People Produce Kingdom Fruit,” based on Matthew 21:43: Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. In Matthew 21:33-46, Jesus teaches that the kingdom of God will be taken from the religious leaders of the day and be given to people producing its fruits. By God’s grace in Christ, we are blessed to be these people in the kingdom of God. He graciously nurtures us and generously gives us everything we need to produce fruit for the kingdom during the fruit-bearing season of our lives. Because of your donations to mites, we can share the Gospel and bring others to Christ. Thank you for your support of LWML, enabling us to produce fruit for God’s kingdom.

THE HUMAN CARE COMMITTEE has selected The Women’s Care Center as the recipient for the fourth quarter.   We thank God for the precious gift of life from conception to natural death even as we pray for those who help others to honor the sanctity of life.

Aria Borneman, 9 year old daughter of Lucas and Jennifer Borneman, student at Martin Luther School and member at Shepherd of the Valley was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation for which she had surgery on August 27th at Gillette Children’s Hospital in St. Paul MN. She is recovering from the surgery and has a few minor setbacks. Please pray for Aria and her family.

Due to COVID – 19, Shepherd of the Valley is hosting a non-event fund raiser for the Borneman family on Sunday, October 4. Checks can be written to Shepherd of the Valley with “Aria Benefit” in the memo.

What is a Chiari Malformation?

A Chiari malformation is a problem in which a part of the brain (the cerebellum) at the back of the skull bulges through a normal opening in the skull where it joins the spinal canal. This puts pressure on parts of the brain and spinal cord, and can cause mild to severe symptoms.

Symptoms of Type I Chiari malformation can include: *Headaches. *Pain in the arms, legs or neck. *Numbness or weakness in the hands and arms. *Unsteadiness when walking. *Dizziness. *Vomiting. *Loss of the ability to sense temperature. *Curvature of the spine (scoliosis). *Fluid collection in the spinal cord (syringomyelia).

Some younger children and infants might have difficulty drinking.

WE ARE PLEASED to have with us Pastor John Reinke with World Lutheran Deaf Outreach.  Pastor Reinke has agreed to sign both of our services this morning.  He will also present during the education hour.  He will also present at the North Dakota District LC-MS Fall Pastoral Conference this week at Bethel Lutheran Church.  Please welcome Pastor Reinke!

SPREADING THE WORD

There is a pressing need for Spanish language catechisms for the Latin American Lutheran Mission in Laredo, TX. They are starting 39 new missions and would like 10 catechisms for each new start. We were able to send 50 already and we are now collecting donations for 340 more at a cost of about $3400, of which we have collected about a $1000. If you can help label your gift LALM/Laredo.

PLANS ARE COMING TOGETHER for the 12’ X 16’ storage shed that will be built by Grayson Lawyer as his Eagle Scout project. Donations to this effort are greatly appreciated. The cement slab has been poured and walls are beginning to go up.

THE NORTH DAKOTA DISTRICT LC-MS Fall Pastoral Conference will take place at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bismarck on October 5-7. Pastor Wolfgram and Pastor Woodside will attend the conference.
